What exactly is “motherhood” to Jaime Krueger?

Motherhood is non-traditional. Motherhood does not look anything like what she thought it would. Motherhood has come to her, and in one sense, been taken away.

Jaime and her husband have walked the path that many other couples have walked when trying to start a family. After learning that they would be unable to conceive, the Krueger’s made the decision to begin the grueling process of IVF.

Jaime describes IVF as one of the most vulnerable and invasive experiences that a person can undergo. And for her and her husband, their journey was filled with pain and multiple losses. Jaime is a mother. She has carried life in her womb. She has heard the flutter of heartbeats, and has imagined who her children would one day grow up to become.

And while Jaime will not have the opportunity to meet the children she carried within her while she’s here on this Earth, she knows that one day she will be reunited with them in heaven.

After multiple rounds of IVF, Jaime and her husband made the difficult decision to end their IVF journey and begin an exciting, grueling, new journey towards adoption. As Jaime says, now that they are on this path towards adoption, it’s not a matter of IF they have a child one day, but rather a matter of WHEN.

Mothers come in all forms, and Jaime’s quiet, caring nature is certainly proof of that. After making a career change which allowed her to start working from home, Jaime realized that she needed to find a way to reconnect with people face-to-face.
