You know those people who just have a fire inside of them that you can see burning from across a room?
Yeah, Mary Shelton is definitely one of those people. If there really is an “It” Factor, she’s got it.
And as someone who was not blessed with that skill set, let me tell you, it’s really incredible to watch.
Mary moved to Frankenmuth after marrying her husband, a born and bred “Muther.” And honestly? We needed her. She’s the chill vibe and breath of fresh air that I was SO happy to get to know when we finally met in person last year.
According to Mary herself, she’s always been doing the “outside version of things.” Which I guess makes it no surprise then that she never actually planned to have children. Ironically, her habitual lack of planning also ended up being the reason that she DID become a mother… (Who else here can relate?! Haha!)
So what exactly changed for Mary when she DID become a mother? Well, everything. Mary said that motherhood has made her stronger. It’s made her question the norm. It’s helped her question and put into perspective just what it is that other people want and expect from her. And it’s also given her a newfound sense of freedom- “If it doesn’t make me happy, then I’m just going to remove it.”
“I think you begin to see yourself and others in a different light (postpartum.) I respect others more now.”
Mary may not know exactly who she is postpartum, but she sure as hell has direction. She started her own business, Mary Shelton Media, in 2019, and has built quite the impressive portfolio of work in just a short amount of time!
But even with all of her success in 2019, Mary is quick to pass out some sage advice, “If you don’t rush milestones for your kids, then you shouldn’t rush your own.”
Well said, Mary. Well said.
