“Nourish beginnings, let us nourish beginnings. Not all things are blest, but the seeds of all things are blest. The blessing is in the seed.” Muriel Rukeyser
Patience. Passion. Creativity. Commitment. Diligence.
These are just a couple of the qualities you need to possess when you become a home school parent. Megan Van Sipe embodies all of these qualities, plus SO MANY more.
She is a shining example of social media gone RIGHT. With one of the most beautiful, informative, and inspiring social media profiles (@schoolnest on Instagram) Megan has established herself as an authority in the world of homeschooling.
But who is Megan beyond a home school mother to her 4 and 7 year old daughters?
It all starts with who Megan WAS prior to having kids. Working in the design and fashion industry was, of course, kind of a dream experience for someone with such a creative spirit. But Megan knew that the nature of the industry would not jive with the way she planned to parent her future children. So when she gave birth to her eldest daughter, Megan also considered herself to be “reborn.” She ceased to be what she was, and she jumped fully and completely into the role of “mom.” And in an age when women are encouraged that they can do it all, and be it all at the same time (maybe even to a fault…hmmm) Megan fully embraced being “mom.”
As her girls continued to grow, Megan slowly started taking small steps towards rediscovering herself, and who she was beyond MOM. She started to pull her own passions and creativity into motherhood, and in the process, felt herself “returning to life.”
Megan encourages each of us to take tiny bits of time away for ourselves as we adjust to life as mothers, and insists that pursuing our own passions is a great thing for our children to witness.
While not all of us are in the position to home school our children, I guarantee each of us can take something away from Megan’s inspirational social media posts, blogs, and printables.
